AP English Literature & Composition
Prerequisite: English I and II

AP Literature provides a college level study of literature primarily through the exploration of fiction and nonfiction works in the American canon. Special emphasis is placed on critically reading and writing expository, argumentative, and analysis in prose in order to prepare students for the English Language and Composition Exam administered in May. Units are designed to reflect a literacy-based approach to English instruction; therefore, students will read works from a variety of genres focused on a a variety of literary themes. There will be a REQUIRED summer reading list.
